Have a very good singing voice. Ariana Grande has an R&B style voice. If you're not good at singing R&B, take voice lessons. Perform in your school talent show (Sing Give It Up with a friend or any other of Ariana Grande's songs). Also, in the summer go to either a singing camp or an acting camp. In one of Cat's TheSlap posts, she mentions that she was going to rock band camp for the summer.
Usually schools have some sort of drama class durng the year, but there might be a certain year they start drama class in though, you might not be in there. So instead do an extracurricular outside of school, like a broadway performing group. Especially if they do 13 the musical, then be sure you get the role of Charlotte. Ariana Grande played her when she was on broadway.
